- After playing the Denver Broncos, the Atlanta Falcons remaining preseason schedule includes the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Washington Redskins, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
- After playing the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos remaining preseason schedule includes the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and Arizona Cardinals.
- Between the lack of starters playing and the historical betting data from the Falcons and Broncos last season, the expectation is that the under will hit.
CANTON, Ohio. – The Hall of Fame Game marks the end of the six-month hiatus for the NFL and the beginning of preseason.
This year, the Atlanta Falcons will battle against the Denver Broncos at Tom Benson Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
The betting odds have been fluctuating rather heavily since the line opened, but as it currently stands, the Denver Broncos (-135) are favored over the Atlanta Falcons (+115). When looking at the spread, the Broncos are -3 (+105) as the Falcons are +3 (-125).
The over/under has increased as of late, moving up to 35 total points by the game’s conclusion.
But don’t be so adamant that a high scoring game will take place. The Falcons have hit the under in six of their last seven preseason games, as they scored 0, 14, 6, and 7 points in last year’s exhibition games. As for the Broncos, the last nine games have all hit the under but did see some high scoring efforts during the preseason last year.
Storylines For The Falcons And Broncos Game
The Falcons aren’t expected to play most of their starters while the Broncos will be ready to explore their youthful talent and coaching staff’s abilities so betting data may be difficult to use as a reference.
"I'm a veteran. I've been doing this, so I don't need preseason to get ready,” said Falcons’ All-Pro receiver Julio Jones.
Instead, the focus will turn to the young guns, especially on the Broncos side of the field. USAOnlineSportsbooks.com knows a backup quarterback battle is in place with game one starter Kevin Hogan, “the quarterback of the future” Drew Lock, and the third rookie quarterback on the roster Brett Rypien.
Additionally, rookie tight end Noah Fant has been impressing the Broncos’ staff in training camp and will be able to put his aptitude to the test in his first NFL game.
For the Falcons, undrafted Olamide Zaccheaus will get a chance to make the final roster, as the four-year wide receiver totaled over 1000 scrimmage yards in both of his final two seasons at the University of Virginia.
Unfortunately, first-round selection Kaleb McGary will be unable to play until a few weeks into the regular season. McGary underwent cardiac ablation (a heart procedure) on Wednesday following an issue at Tuesday’s practice but the two-time first-team All-Pac-12 tackle has experience with heart procedures, as he suffers from heart arrhythmia.
