- A wager on 5Dimes Sportsbook asks the question whether or not President Donald Trump will get the Coronavirus.
- The pandemic has been spreading throughout the U.S. but bookmakers do not believe Trump is at risk.
WASHINGTON - Will President Donald Trump contract the Coronavirus that has been sweeping the globe? According to 5Dimes Sportsbook, the odds have changed overnight with the President having a little more leeway when it comes to not catching COVID-19.
The President of the United States is continually in contact with multiple people on a daily basis, despite the guidelines of social distancing that the rest of the country has been doing in order to stop the spread of the disease.
However, Trump has no choice but to be around people as it comes with the job description. Even if it’s just him giving speeches on the status of the country amid the global pandemic, there are always numerous people surrounding him at the podium.
So, how have his political odds by bookmakers become better for not becoming ill?
How The Tides Have Turned
Last night, the odds of Trump becoming ill with the Coronavirus were heavily favored in the “No” category with odds of (-900) and “Yes” at (+500). Fast-forward to this morning and his odds are a bit different, “No” is even more favored at (-975) and (+525) for “Yes”.
Trump was tested for COVID-19 on March 14 where the results came back negative. He had contact with an Official from Brazil that tested positive after their visit.
There were also employees at his home in Florida who had tested positive for the virus. However, Trump is COVID-19 free and sportsbooks agree he will most likely remain that way. Especially if his doctors have anything to say about it.
“The President’s exposure to the first individual was extremely limited to a photograph and handshake, and though he spent more time in closer proximity to the second case, all interactions occurred before any symptom onset,” said Dr. Sean P. Conley.
“These interactions would be categorized as LOW risk for transmission per CDC guidelines, and as such, there is no indication for home quarantine at this time.”
What Can Bettors Expect?
With all of that in mind, as well as Trump continuing to be on top of the Coronavirus pandemic with the influx of materials and tests that are coming into the US to fight the disease, he does seem to be a low risk for becoming sick.
He has also said that he will let the CDC inform him of what the next steps should be so he is receiving advice from those that are knowledgeable before he takes any actions.
Trump has more resources to keep him safe than the normal person and the odds reflect that. Even though other world leaders such as the Prime Minister of England Boris Johnson tested positive for it, the White House will surely try to do everything to prevent that from happening in the U.S.
