LAS VEGAS – The 2019 Wimbledon tournament has been moving along in London. The number 11 ranked women’s tennis player in the Wimbledon Tournament, Serena Williams, beat challenger Carla Suarez Navarro in straight sets. (6-2, 6-2)
Williams (-400) is set to face fellow American Alison Riske (+275) in the Women’s Wimbledon quarterfinals. Riske is unranked in the tournament but previously took down number one seed Ashleigh Barty. Riske’s quarterfinals match up with Williams has the potential for a challenging battle for both parties.
While Williams is favored to win her quarters matchup, anything could happen. Williams is still getting back into her playing grove. Riske is fresh off a win versus the number one seed in the tournament.
“I feel the rust is coming off,” said Williams shortly after her dominating win versus Navarro.
If Williams can keep her rhythm going and steadily transition back into her usually elite form, then she will have a chance to win the entire Wimbledon tournament. Williams is projected to win it all. She has +135 odds to win the entire women’s singles tournament. Just behind her is Simona Halep (+260) and Johanna Konta (+500). Alison Riske (+1400) is further down the line.
Williams also has the best odds at online sportsbooks for US players to reach the Wimbledon final. She has -175 odds. Simona Halep has even odds to reach the final. Just under both women is Johanna Konta (+175).
Serena Williams quarterfinals match versus Alison Riske will be held on the center court Tuesday at 8 pm EST, live on ESPN or on the Tennis Channel.
