Bettor Puts $2.3M On Tamp Bay’s Odds To Win Super Bowl 55

  • Based on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl LV odds, the underdog bettor stands to win $2 million.
  • More than 75% of the money coming in from Super Bowl betting at DraftKings and FanDuel is going on the Kansas City Chiefs.

TAMPA, Fla. – With Super Bowl 55 just days away, a flurry of bets are starting to come in on the big game. However, despite most people backing the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat as Super Bowl champions, one bettor has placed a $2.3 million bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to cover the 3.5 point spread.

"This was a bet we were very happy to receive," said Jason Scott, vice president of trading for BetMGM, to ESPN. "We had previously written several other six-figure bets, all on Kansas City, and the public is certainly behind Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes."

The gutsy bet on Super Bowl 55 is the largest wager that the BetMGM app has ever accepted and is the largest single bet anyone has made on the Super Bowl so far this year.

But, where is everyone else when it comes to SB 55 betting?

A total of 74% of the first week of bets on this Super Bowl matchup was put on the Chiefs to cover a 3 point spread at William Hill sportsbook. DraftKings and FanDuel aren’t much different having taken in 75% of Super Bowl bets on the Chiefs to win the game.

NFL bettors are also putting heavy action on the Chiefs as well. William Hill reportedly took in a $120K bet on the Chiefs (-3) to cover the spread and another $95,000 bet on them to win straight up.

More high-roller bets are expected to come in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, possibly leading the odds to shift.
