BMW Championship: Prop Bets On The Best Golfers

  • The FedEx Cup Playoffs enter their second week of competition at the BMW Championship this week.
  • Plenty of head to head prop bets are available for the tournament including Bryson DeChambeau (-105) against Dustin Johnson (-125).
  • Other odds are available including Collin Morikawa over Jason Day for -140 and Justin Thomas over Jon Rahm for -120.

OLYMPIA, Ill. – The second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs is here and ready to begin Thursday at the BMW Championship.

The best in the world of golf come into the event ready to prove they can play at a championship level against the other top competitors in the field. Only 70 golfers have made it to this leg of the Playoffs, with only 30 moving on to the final event, the TOUR Championship.

In the meantime, there is plenty of betting opportunity to be had across the board this week in Illinois.

With so many valuable golf prop bets ready to go for this weekend’s event, there are a few that stood out as worthwhile.

Tournament Match Up - B. DeChambeau v D. Johnson

  • Bryson DeChambeau -105
  • Dustin Johnson -125

Dustin Johnson showed the world that he is still capable of blowing out an entire PGA Tour field whenever he wants last week when he won the Northern Trust at a score of -30.

While DJ hasn’t been able to play super consistently in recent times, the rest of the field is on high alert that Dustin is playing at this level.

Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau comes into this tournament with a ton of confidence.

Bryson won the 2015 US Amateur at this course, one of the last events played at Olympia Fields. This experience could be paramount for DeChambeau as he looks to cement himself amongst the top players.

Tournament Match Up - C. Morikawa v J. Day

  • Colin Morikawa -140
  • Jason Day +110

Jason Day has enjoyed a bit of renaissance over the past few weeks that saw him string together a run of top 10 finishes. Both Day and Morikawa did just enough to make it through the first round and are looking to bounce back this week in leg two.

While Day has played well of late, Morikawa remains one of the best ball strikers on Tour this year. Morikawa showed the world at the PGA Championship that he has the ability to accurately hit every shot on the golf course, including off of the tee

This skill will be huge this week and should be enough to lift Collin over Day on the leaderboard.

Tournament Match Up - D. Johnson v J. Rahm

  • Dustin Johnson EVEN
  • Jon Rahm -130

Back to DJ, who is up against Jon Rahm in this particular prop bet.

Rahm has had a successful 2020 behind his win at the Memorial Tournament. After his win at Muirfield Village, Rahm went on to finish T13 at the PGA Championship, and T6 at the Northern Trust.

The key for Rahm has been consistency. The fiery Spaniard hits 70.33% of his greens for a scoring average of 69.306, good for 6th on Tour.

If DJ continues his trend of inconsistency, this could be an easy win for Rahm bettors.

Tournament Group Betting

  • Harris English +325
  • Matthew Wolff +325
  • Tony Finau +325
  • Tiger Woods +350
  • Adam Scott +375

The final featured prop for the tournament is a group bet between five golfers who are optimistic heading into the BMW Championship.

While Tony Finau and Harris English have had spurts of greatness in recent memory, the best bet here has to be Matthew Wolff.

Tiger is a sexy pick but simply doesn’t have the best chance to win this event. The same goes for Adam Scott, who has been absent much in 2020.

In just his second season on Tour, Matthew Wolff has been extremely impressive, scoring a second place at the Rocket Mortgage classic and a T4 at the PGA Championship.

Wolff’s length off the tee and experience at this course should be enough to lift him above this group.
