Combat Sports Weekend Betting Preview: BKFC, UFC Fight Night

  • Cory Sandhagen has -200 odds against TJ Dillashaw in the UFC’s main event on Saturday.
  • Paige VanZant has -350 betting odds against Rachel Ostovich in the BKFC main event.
  • Rapper Blueface will also be fighting popular TikTok star Neumane on the BKFC Card.

LAS VEGAS – The upcoming weekend of combat sports has plenty of headlines and should make for an exciting couple of nights. TJ Dillashaw is making his return to the octagon in over 2 years as his suspension for PEDs is up, Paige VanZant and Rachel Ostovich will fight professionally for the second time but on a new promotion and finally a TikTok star, Neumane, will fight popular rapper, Blueface.

UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Dillashaw

The card as a whole is relatively lackluster, but the main event is one of the more interesting fights of the year. TJ Dillashaw will make his return to the UFC after a two-year suspension due to positive tests for banned substances. Dillashaw is a former UFC bantamweight champion, but is listed as a betting underdog on online sportsbooks.

Dillashaw vs Sandhagen Moneyline Odds

  • Cory Sandhagen -200
  • TJ Dillashaw +160

Cory Sandhagen is on a two-fight win streak after beating Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar with spectacular knockouts. He beat his last two opponents by knockout with a spinning head kick and a flying knee. Sandhagen is thought to be next in line for a title shot after Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan have their inevitable rematch.

The biggest advantage Sandhagen has, and surely a big component as to why he’s the favorite on sports betting sites, is his height and length. Standing at 5’11” and fighting at 135 pounds, he has the height and reach advantage on nearly every fighter in the division. For comparison, he is within an inch of height of Kamaru Usman, the 170-pound champion. Dillashaw stands at just 5’6” which makes for a large difference, especially in the bantamweight division.

The biggest obstacle for Dillashaw will likely be ring rust, two years out of a sport like MMA can be detrimental if not handled correctly. Even though Dillashaw is arguably one of the best bantamweights in UFC history, everything seems stacked against him heading into this fight.

Bare Knuckles Fighting Championship

There are two notable fights on this weekend’s BKFC 19 card. The headliner is a rematch between Paige VanZant and Rachel Ostovich and the other notable fight is between Blueface and Neumane.

VanZant vs Ostovich

VanZant signed a massive deal with BKFC but lost her debut on the promotion via unanimous decision a couple of months back. Now, she will face Rachel Ostovich, who is making her BKFC debut. The two fought in the UFC back in January of 2019 where VanZant won by submission. However, there is no jiu-jitsu in BKFC, just boxing, which neither fighter necessarily excels in. Regardless, VanZant is the favorite by a significant margin.

VanZant vs Ostovich Moneyline Odds

  • Paige VanZant -350
  • Rachel Ostovich +250

VanZant should be able to win, but likely shouldn’t be as big of a favorite as she is. That being said, Ostovich doesn’t necessarily give any reassurance with her game whatsoever. VanZant is probably the better of the two options, but it would’ve been nice to see her odds in the -250 range. Those betting on boxing may be best inclined to just enjoy the show for this fight.

Blueface vs Neumane

This is more of a spectacle than anything. A rapper and a TikTok star boxing one another is becoming more and more normal, but this one is sliding a little under the radar in comparison to some other similar fights. Unfortunately, there are no odds available for this fight, but it should be an interesting one nonetheless.

In Other News

The latest news in the world of combat sports is that UFC legend Anderson Silva is in talks to box Logan Paul later in the year. Silva recently beat former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via split decision in the boxing ring, so it may be surprising as to why Paul opened as the favorite in this possible match, especially because he has never won a professional fight.

However, the odds have completely flipped overnight as Silva is now a heavy favorite at -240 with Logan Paul coming back at +190. Although, these odds are still very generous to anyone interested in siding with Silva.
