LAS VEGAS - Welcome to this Monday edition of the Daily Sports Betting Preview!

Today’s Preview kicks off with a look at some NBA action as the Dallas Mavericks take on the Denver Nuggets. Then, the Ottawa Senators battle the Vancouver Canucks in a solid hockey matchup.

Finally, the Preview takes a look at cs_summit 7, for solid Counter-Strike: Global Offensive betting.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

NBA Betting

The Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets are in fairly similar positions in terms of standings and team composition.

Both teams are not where they want to be in this 2021 NBA season, and both teams are fielding a legitimate MVP candidate.

For the Mavs, that candidate is Luka Doncic, who has led them to an 8-8 record so far this season, while being in the thick of the MVP race.

For the Nuggets, a 9-7 record pales in comparison to their Western Conference Finals berth last season, and Nikola Jokic has been tearing up the league.

Denver Nuggets vs. Dallas Mavericks Spread

  • Denver Nuggets -1.5 (-110)
  • Dallas Mavericks +1.5 (-110)

The spread for this matchup is remarkably close, given the similar profiles the two teams have.

The Nuggets are slight road favorites in the matchup, and it seems the sportsbooks still have hope for them as an elite team.

Denver Nuggets vs. Dallas Mavericks Moneyline

  • Denver Nuggets -120
  • Dallas Mavericks +100

However, that faith is fairly tenuous. There’s not a huge gap between the spread and the moneyline in this matchup.

One can look at it as buying and selling points. For example, a Denver bettor who is skittish about the spread can effectively buy 1.5 points by moving from -110 odds to -120 odds.

Conversely, a Dallas bettor who is confident in the team can sell points by moving from +1.5 to +0 in exchange for moving from -110 to +100.

Whichever way a given NBA betting fan chooses, both teams in this matchup are solid options, and could easily come out on top.

NHL Betting

The Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators sit at the bottom of the NHL’s North Division - the worst teams in Canada.

Ottawa enters this matchup with a record of 1-3-1-0, while Vancouver clocks in at 2-5-0-0. The moneyline in this matchup has gotten fairly lopsided despite this - bettors evidently see a significant difference between the two teams.

Ottawa Senators vs. Vancouver Canucks Moneyline

  • Ottawa Senators +130
  • Vancouver Canucks -150

The Canucks are -150 on the moneyline, and that’s about where they opened at most sportsbooks, although this line has been moving around a fair bit.

The Senators are just not a good team. Last season, they finished only above the Detroit Red Wings in the Atlantic Division.

Predictably, this leads to all sorts of awful looking trends, like the fact that the Senators are 11-42 in their last 53 road games. On the one hand, it is a trend worth noting, but on the other hand, of course a bad team has a bad road record.

In the last five meetings between these two teams, Ottawa has only won once, and the favorite has won five of the last seven games these two teams have played against each other.

If one assumes this trend will continue, the Vancouver Canucks start to look quite appealing on the moneyline.

Bolder NHL betting enthusiasts might want to take a look at the puck line for added profit.

Ottawa Senators vs. Vancouver Canucks Puck Line

  • Ottawa Senators +1.5 (-190)
  • Vancouver Canucks -1.5 (+165)

Canucks -1.5 is a pretty big underdog, and has a pretty decent chance to be a good bet in hindsight.

cs_summit 7 Betting

Counter-Strike fans have some solid matchups left on the betting slate in cs_summit 5’s late games Monday.

In the first matchup, FURIA faces off against Cloud 9 as a fairly notable favorite.

FURIA vs. Cloud 9

  • FURIA -225
  • Cloud 9 +165

FURIA are the favorites in this matchup as the seventh ranked team in the world, while C9 are 14th in the world. These teams have never faced off before, and the matchup looks to be explosive, as each team looks to improve on previous results.

FURIA performed poorly at Blast Premier Global Finals 2020, losing to both G2 Esports and Evil Geniuses.

Cloud 9, meanwhile, are looking to recover from the loss of woxic, who was released earlier in January. Now, they’ll have a chance to field their new roster in this matchup against Furia, with little to lose - they aren’t expected to win, after all.

Virtus.pro vs Ninjas In Pyjamas Odds

  • Virtus.pro -135
  • Ninjas In Pyjamas +100

Virtus.pro had a solid 2020, capped off with a win at the Dreamhack Open in December.

They enter this matchup favored over Ninjas in Pyjamas, and ranked higher than them in the world rankings as well. ESL ranks Virtus.pro at 12th in the world, while NiP sits at 17th, demonstrating a significant if relatively small gap between the two teams on the sportsbooks.

Esports betting enthusiasts can wager on either of these matchups, both of which start at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Good luck!
