LAS VEGAS - This Tuesday Edition of the Daily Sports Betting Preview starts off with a discussion of the match between Manchester United and Burnley.

Then, the Preview turns to the NBA, where the Golden State Warriors take on the Indiana Pacers. Finally, the 2021 Masters features an interesting snooker matchup today.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

Premier League Betting

Manchester United have the opportunity to move to the top of the table in the Premier League as long as they don’t lose this game. They have a game in hand on league leaders Liverpool, and the same point total, so if they pull off a win or a draw in this matchup, they’ll take the lead in the Premier League.

United have been excellent so far this season, with ten wins, three draws and three losses domestically.

Their opponents this week, Burnley, have been anything but. Burnley currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League, only five points out of the relegation zone.

In fact, Burnley boasts the third worst goal differential in the league. In other words, Manchester United are very advantaged in this matchup.

Burnley vs. Manchester United

  • Burnley +640
  • Manchester United -245
  • Draw +390

Even on the three-way moneyline, Manchester United are favored by a fairly significant amount. On the no draw moneyline, they are favored to an absurd degree - as they should be.

Burnley vs. Manchester United

  • Burnley +450
  • Manchester United -700

Intriguingly, Manchester United, despite their excellent form currently, and despite their potentially league-leading record after this game, are still not favorites to win the PL.

Premier League Winner 2021

  • Manchester City -120
  • Liverpool +250
  • Manchester United +600
  • Tottenham Hotspur +1200
  • Leicester City +3300
  • Chelsea +3300
  • Arsenal +15000

Manchester City, currently in fifth place in the league, are still the favorites to win the title. United and Liverpool, both four points ahead of City at least, are not even particularly close to City’s odds. It seems as though the sportsbooks and the soccer betting community at large agree that United’s run of good form early in the season will not be sustainable.

However, today’s matchup against Burnley should give United a brief time in the sun at the top of the Premier League, at the very least.

NBA Betting

The NBA season has been unique so far, with COVID-related surprises and non-COVID related surprises in equal measure.

One of the big stories this season has been the Golden State Warriors, and Steph Curry in particular. Curry started out the season cold, as did the Dubs, but he’s heated up to an incredible degree in recent games.

However, he still puts up inconsistent numbers. For example, check out his points scored in his last five games:

Steph Curry Points:

  • Vs. Portland - 62
  • Vs. Sacramento - 30
  • Vs. LA Clippers - 13
  • Vs. LA Clippers - 38
  • Vs. Toronto - 13

He ranges between being the best player on the court and putting up role-player numbers depending on whether or not his shot is falling. His mercurial nature on the court as of late makes the Warriors hard to predict.

Golden State Warriors vs. Indiana Pacers

  • Indiana Pacers +130
  • Golden State Warriors -150

The Warriors are mild favorites over the Indiana Pacers at home, which, given both teams have the same record (6-4), seems fairly accurate.

Golden State Warriors vs. Indiana Pacers

  • Indiana Pacers +3.0 (-110)
  • Golden State Warriors -3.0 (-110)

The Pacers are 6-4 against the spread this season while the Warriors are 5-5, and it seems as though the Warriors are getting the homecourt edge in this matchup and not much else.

The Warriors have been notably better against the spread at home, with a home ATS record of 4-2 this season. The Pacers have only played three games on the road, but they have covered the spread in two of those games.

The spread for this matchup opened with Golden State as underdogs by a point, and has been moved over time to where it is right now.

It seems that NBA betting fans love the Warriors, which does imply that there might be value on the Pacers end of this matchup.

This game airs at 10:30 p.m. EST.

Snooker Betting

The 2021 Masters brings a matchup between Mark Selby and Stephen Maguire to the betting slate Tuesday. Selby ended the 2019/2020 season as the fourth ranked snooker player in the world, behind only Judd Trump, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson.

Maguire, meanwhile, finished ninth in the rankings, which means this matchup could be hotly contested.

The snooker sportsbooks do not think that it will be particularly close, however, as Selby is a large favorite.

Mark Selby vs. Stephen Maguire

  • Stephen Maguire +265
  • Mark Selby -320

Selby is nearly a three-to-one favorite on the moneyline, and this does make more sense than the simple view of the rankings would show.

The rankings are based on the amount of points earned in tournament play. Selby, in fourth place, has 722,000 points, while ninth place Maguire is sitting on 478,500.

In that context, the gap between them on the odds looks fairly understandable.

Selby is simply a different level of player than Maguire, having reached heights that Maguire has found it hard to equal. Maguire is a consistent top 16 player, but he has never been ranked as the number one player in the world.

This matchup could be a solid one, but the sportsbooks are confident that Selby will come out on top, and it’s hard to blame them.

Good luck!
