LAS VEGAS - Today’s Daily Sports Betting Preview will take a bit of a different approach.

First, there are several college basketball matchups involving Top 25 ranked teams on the slate today, and the Preview will take a look at five of them.

Then, in the Champions League, Manchester City takes on Olympique Marseille in what should be a solid matchup.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

College Basketball Top 25

There are several intriguing top 25 matchups on the table, and they range from projected blowouts to potentially close games.

Starting at the beginning of the day, Rhode Island takes on Wisconsin at 4:30 p.m. EST.

Rhode Island vs. Wisconsin

  • Rhode Island +350
  • Wisconsin -500

Rhode Island sits at +350 on the moneyline, making them underdogs to a fairly significant degree, while the spread has them +9.5.

Rhode Island vs. Wisconsin

  • Rhode Island +9.5 (-115)
  • Wisconsin -9.5 (-105)

There is a bit of shading on the spread - Rhode Island +9.5 is favored over Wisconsin -9.5 by a small margin.

Rhode Island is 4-1 against the spread so far this year, while Wisconsin is 1-3 against the spread.

The next game to kick off features Northern Iowa taking on Richmond, in a game projected to be slightly closer but roughly similar.

Northern Iowa vs. Richmond

  • Northern Iowa +315
  • Richmond -430
  • Richmond -8.0

Northern Iowa has a better shot at winning than Rhode Island does, but they have not won a game against the spread so far this season.

The 8-point spread is right in a dangerous spot for Rhode Island. However, the line opened at Richmond -9, and has moved in the direction of Rhode Island over the course of betting.

Abilene Christian vs. Texas Tech

  • Abilene Christian +950
  • Texas Tech -2000
  • Texas Tech -16.5

The next match on the slate is the most lopsided of the day, featuring Texas Tech going up against Abilene Christian.

This is a matchup that is as much about the power of the ranked team as it is the failures of their opponent.

Interestingly, both teams involved in this matchup are good against the spread so far this year.

Abilene Christian has a 4-0 record against the spread, while Texas Tech has a 4-1 record against the spread.

This matchup kicks off at 7:00 p.m. EST

Indiana vs. Florida State

  • Indiana +135
  • Florida State -155
  • FSU -3.5

At 8:00 p.m. EST, the closest game on the slate takes place as Indiana visits Tallahassee to take on Florida State.

Florida state are extremely mild favorites in this matchup, with -155 moneyline odds and a spread of -3.5 points in their favor.

This is FSU’s second game of the season, so there are no real trends to examine on their end, but Indiana is 3-1 ATS so far this season.

Liberty vs. Missouri

  • Liberty +425
  • Missouri -650
  • Missouri -10.5

Finally, Liberty is set to take on Missouri, who is ranked 25th in the top 25 - which is enough to be significant favorites over Liberty.

The spread opened at Missouri -11.5, but over the course of time has moved a point in Liberty’s direction.

Liberty has a 4-1 ATS record, while Missouri sits at 3-0 against the spread. Both teams have a shot at this one, but Missouri are notable favorites.

Each of these games provides varying levels of college basketball betting entertainment.

Some of them are close, and some of them are not, but the spread is the great equalizer, and makes all of these matchups quite compelling.

Champions League Betting

In the Champions League, Manchester City is set to face off against Olympique Marseille, in a matchup that should be easy for them.

However, nothing has been easy for Manchester City this year. They currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League.

Before the season, they were expected to be one of the most dominant teams in the league, if not the most dominant team in the league.

However, they have had to scrape and claw for wins in their domestic league, which was unexpected.

Of course, they still have the talent. Olympique Marseille manager Andre Villas-Boas pointed out that it is a reasonable conclusion that Manchester City’s backups could win the Champions League.

"We cannot rely on Porto but we must be at our best to get a positive result”, said Villas-Boas. “Because City’s B team are strong enough to win the Champions League, I think."

The reference to Porto refers to the fact that Porto winning against Olympiacos helps Marseille’s chances of reaching the next round of the tournament. The odds certainly reflect this talent disparity.

Manchester City vs. Olympique Marseille

  • Manchester City -325
  • Olympique Marseille +875
  • Draw +450

Even on the three way moneyline, City are favored by a very significant amount at -325, while Marseille are monstrous underdogs.

The outlook gets no better for Marseille on the no draw moneyline.

Manchester City vs. Olympique Marseille

  • Manchester City -1400
  • Olympique Marseille +625

That is, in all honesty, a pretty astonishing leap in terms of Manchester City’s odds, which go from -325 to -1400.

On the spread, Manchester City sit as goal and a half favorites, and even on that spread are mildly favored with -115 odds. Overall, nobody - from Marseille’s manager to the writer of this column - thinks that Marseille has a serious shot at a win here.

However, the spread makes this match fairly interesting for soccer bettors, and it’s certainly worth watching.

Happy Betting!
