NEW YORK – Today’s edition of the Daily Sports Betting Preview closes off the week with a bang.

First, in the NBA, the Boston Celtics face off against the Toronto Raptors in Game 7 of their series.

Then, in the NHL, the Tampa Bay Lightning face off against the New York Islanders, and look to take a 3-0 lead. Finally, the US Open continues with some excellent tennis betting action.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

NBA Playoff Betting

The NBA Playoffs continue tonight as the Boston Celtics face off against the Toronto Raptors.

Game 6 was a brutal affair, with the two teams deadlocked down the stretch as the game went into two overtime periods. Eventually, it was the Toronto Raptors, led by Kyle Lowry, who came out on top, pushing the series to seven games.

The Raptors have fought hard in this series and scraped out wins in games they perhaps should have lost.

Can they do the same thing tonight?

Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors

  • Boston Celtics -145
  • Toronto Raptors +125

The Raptors are moneyline underdogs in this matchup, and the spread isn’t looking much kinder to them.

Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors

  • Boston Celtics -3
  • Toronto Raptors +3

It seems clear at this point that between the two teams, the Celtics are a bit better, but that does not necessarily mean that they will win.

The Raptors have the uncanny ability to just never go away in a game - they are always fighting, and that’s why the spread is so even.

This matchup should be a great one for fans of the NBA and fans of NBA betting alike, so make sure to check it out.

NHL Playoffs

The New York Islanders were on a Cinderella run.

Were.

The Islanders defeated the Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers in successive playoff series in order to reach this point. They did so by playing excellent team oriented hockey, and excelled when pressuring opponents.

They were notably less star-oriented than their opponents, and that fact remained true when they entered this series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Unfortunately, sometimes talent just wins out.

The Lightning are up 2-0 in the series and have a chance to take a relatively insurmountable 3-0 lead tonight. The online sportsbooks seem to think that they’ll do so.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Islanders

  • Tampa Bay Lightning -145
  • New York Islanders +125

The Islanders aren’t sitting with impossibly low odds on a game to game basis, they just need to actually convert those odds into wins.

Whether or not they can convert today’s game into a win will likely define the series - if it hasn’t been defined already.

This should be a great game, and could be the last stand for the Islanders.

US Open Betting

The US Open continues today, with the men’s division still reeling in the wake of the disqualification of Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic was easily the favorite to win the entire tournament, and was defaulted from it for hitting a line judge with a tennis ball. This opened the field up tremendously, and now there are only a few matches left before a winner is crowned.

Pablo Carreno Busta vs. Alexander Zverev

  • Pablo Carreno Busta +225
  • Alexander Zverev -285

In the first match, a clear favorite has emerged - Alexander Zverev. Zverev is one of the best players in tennis right now, and is facing off against Pablo Carreno Busta.

Busta is no slouch, ranked 27th in the world, but he is the lowest-ranked player of those remaining, by far.

Zverev, for example, is ranked seventh in the world, while the two participants of the other match today are high ranked as well.

Daniil Medvedev vs. Dominic Thiem

  • Daniil Medvedev -115
  • Dominic Thiem -105

Dominic Thiem is the third-ranked player on the ATP Tour right now.

Thiem actually sits at his career peak rank as such - he’s never been ranked higher than three, and he’s playing quite well.

Daniil Medvedev, meanwhile, despite being ranked slightly lower than Thiem, edges him out on the odds boards just slightly. Medvedev is a miniscule favorite over Thiem, and looks to convert a victory here into better odds in the Finals.

Both of these matches should be excellent viewing experiences for tennis bettors.

Happy Betting!
