DeChambeau Favored To Lead Rocket Mortgage Classic After Round 1

  • A Hole in One not happening at the Rocket Mortgage Classic comes with +115 odds.
  • Bryson DeChambeau has the shortest odds at +1600 to be at the leader after the first round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
  • FedEx Cup season standings leader Webb Simpson has +1200 odds to win the Rocket Mortgage.

DETROIT — The PGA Tour rolls on into Michigan this week as the Rocket Mortgage Classic tournament begins on Thursday at the Detroit Golf Club. There will be no fans attending the Rocket Mortgage Classic due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The field of golfers at the Rocket Mortgage Classic is prime for a betting upset as some of the top golfers in the world will be sitting out.

There won’t be a Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, or Brooks Koepka in the field which means this will be one of the few tournaments where anyone can finish at the top of the leaderboard.

This should provide bettors with a better opportunity to capitalize on odds that come with a great return.

Last Year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic Champion Nate Lashley has +12500 odds to win the tournament again while Bryson DeChambeau is the favorite to win the tournament at +650 odds.

However, some of the best values on golf betting this weekend can be found in the prop bets for the PGA Tour’s latest event.

Rocket Mortgage Classic First Round Leader Odds

  • Bryson DeChambeau +1600
  • Webb Simpson +2200
  • Hideki Matsuyama +2500
  • Patrick Reed +2500
  • Tyrrell Hatton +2500
  • Sungjae Im +3300

Selecting who will be at the top of the leader after Round 1 comes with monster odds and the limited competition in the field makes the +1600 odds on Bryson DeChambeau to top the leader board after Round 1 well worth the risk.

Outside of DeChambeau, bettors should feel comfortable taking the +2200 odds on Webb Simpson who currently leads the FedEx Cup Standings and has also recorded two more PGA Tour wins than Bryson DeChambeau this season.

Expect Webb Simpson to take the lead early and not look back as he’s been one of the most consistent golfers on the tour since its return.

Hole in One Odds

  • Yes -145
  • No +115

This prop is one of the easier props to bet on since it doesn’t require picking a golfer to win.

Bettors should feel comfortable taking the odds at online sportsbooks that an ace doesn’t happen at the Rocket Mortgage Classic based on the lack of elite talent in the field this tournament.

The +115 odds are well worth the profit as opposed to the -145 odds for a hole in one to happen.

Playoff featuring three or more players?

  • No -2500
  • Yes +1200

The +1200 odds make this prop worth the risk, especially if placing a small wager on this line.

A three-person playoff isn’t the most unlikely thing to happen at a PGA Tour event and rolling the dice on that happening should be taken considering the field in this tournament.

The Detroit Golf Club course isn’t the easiest to navigate and last year’s winner Nate Lashley shot a 263. This year’s winner should shoot around that same score but expect more this tournament to be decided by a playoff of any number of golfers, which comes with +325.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic first round will be on Thursday with tee times starting 6:45 a.m. ET and will be broadcasted by CBS and the Golf Channel.
