Georgia, Ohio State Among Favorites To Win Conference – Week 7

  • The Georgia Bulldogs now hold the best odds to win the SEC (-130) after Alabama was upset by Texas A&M in Week 6.
  • The Big Ten’s Ohio State Buckeyes (-170) hold the best odds of any team in college football to win in their respective conferences.

INDIANAPOLIS – With Week 7 of the college football season happening, each conference has several teams vying for position in the conference standings. As the college football landscape has become clearer, several teams have separated themselves as contenders to win their conference, and the futures odds reflect that; however, there is still plenty of value to be had with college football futures odds.

SEC Conference Championship Futures Odds

  • Georgia, –130
  • Alabama, -110
  • Ole’ Miss, +3300
  • Kentucky, +4000
  • Auburn, +6000
  • Texas A&M, +6000
  • Arkansas, +7500
  • Florida, +8000
  • LSU, +20000
  • Tennessee, +20000
  • Mississippi State, +25000
  • Missouri, +50000
  • South Carolina, +50000
  • Vanderbilt, +100000

After Alabama’s loss to Texas A&M in Week 6, Georgia has not only surpassed the Crimson Tide for the top spot in this week’s AP poll, but also for the best odds to win the SEC.

Both Georgia (-130) and Alabama (-110) have very short odds on internet sportsbooks, likely due to the increasingly likely scenario that will see the two teams face off in the SEC Championship Game.

The 4-1 Ole’ Miss Rebels (+3300) and the 6-0 Kentucky Wildcats (+4000) take the third and fourth spot, though there is a large gap between the top two teams and the rest of the pack.

Of the teams in the SEC, perhaps the best value futures bet is on the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats – they play Georgia in Week 7, with the winner taking the lead in the SEC East. If Kentucky can pull off the upset, expect their futures odds to dramatically shorten.

Big 10 Conference Championship Futures Odds

  • Ohio State, -170
  • Iowa, +250
  • Michigan, +600
  • Michigan State, +1600
  • Penn State, +2000
  • Wisconsin, +3300

The 5-1 Ohio State Buckeyes hold the best odds (-170) to win the Big 10 Conference despite three other teams in the conference currently being undefeated. They also hold the best odds to win their respective conference in the entire NCAA.

The Iowa Hawkeyes saw their odds to win the Big 10 get much shorter (+250) after defeating Penn State in Week 6 – they have no ranked teams remaining on their schedule, meaning their odds to win the Big 10 will likely continue to improve if they take care of business week-to-week.

Michigan is the other team with triple-digit odds (+600) to win the Big 10, holding an undefeated record and still to play Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State. If Michigan or Iowa win out, expect their odds to improve enough to surpass a 1-loss Ohio State.

ACC Conference Championship Futures Odds

  • Clemson, EVEN
  • Pittsburgh, +300
  • Wake Forest, +700
  • Virginia Tech, +750
  • NC State, +900
  • Miami (FL), +2000
  • Virginia, +2200
  • North Carolina, +3000
  • Boston College, +5000
  • Georgia Tech, +6000
  • Louisville, +10000
  • Syracuse, +15000
  • Duke, +20000
  • Florida State, +20000

The unranked Clemson Tigers currently hold the best odds to win the ACC Conference Championship (EVEN) despite sitting in third place in the ACC Atlantic division.

The undefeated Wake Forest (+700) is currently in first place in the ACC Coastal, yet sit in third place in the futures odds standings; they are slated to take on Clemson in Week 11, making the Demon Deacons the best value play in the ACC.

The 4-1 Pittsburgh Panthers (+300) hold the second-best odds to win the ACC. The Panthers sit in first place in the ACC Coastal Division but face three tough games in the next three weeks:  a road trip to Virginia Tech, then Clemson and Miami at home. If Pittsburgh can emerge from this stretch unscathed, their futures odds to win the ACC should improve drastically.

Big 12 Conference Championship Futures Odds

  • Oklahoma, -160
  • Texas, +300
  • Oklahoma State, +500
  • Iowa State, +1000
  • Baylor, +1600
  • TCU, +3000
  • Kansas State, +10000
  • Texas Tech, +10000
  • West Virginia, +15000
  • Kansas, +50000

The Oklahoma Sooners (-160) hold the best odds to win the Big 12 – by a large margin – after defeating the Texas Longhorns in last week’s Red River Shootout. Oklahoma still has to take on TCU, Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State, however, so the Sooners winning the Big 12 is far from a foregone conclusion.

The team in the Big 12 with the best value odds to win the conference is the undefeated Oklahoma State (+700). Oklahoma State still has two huge games against Texas and Oklahoma; if they can come out on top against those two teams, Oklahoma State will have one of the stronger resumes in college football, and their futures odds may reflect them as the favorite to win the conference. Getting them at (+700) now can provide excellent value.

PAC-12 Conference Championship Futures Odds

  • Oregon, +150
  • Arizona State, +160
  • Utah, +550
  • UCLA, +700
  • Washington, +1200
  • Oregon State, +2500
  • Stanford, +2800
  • USC, +3000
  • California, +12500
  • Washington State, +20000
  • Colorado, +25000
  • Arizona, +50000

Two teams in the Pac-12 hold similar odds to win the conference championship: Oregon (+150) and Arizona State (+160). Oregon handled their biggest test of the season in Week 2 against Ohio State – their remaining schedule holds no currently ranked teams, giving them a great path to the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Arizona State, who lost to BYU in their toughest test of the season in Week 3, holds similar odds to Oregon to win the Pac-12. Their schedule is similarly easy, with no ranked teams remaining on their slate. They currently sit in first place in the Pac-12 South division, with the 3-2 Utah Utes in second place in the division. It appears likely that Arizona State and Oregon will face off in the Pac-12 championship game with potential playoff implications.
