MLS Set To Return In Orlando, First Game to Be Played July 8

ORLANDO, Fla. —Major League Soccer (MLS) became the latest mainstream sports league to announced its return to play plans on Wednesday. Although soccer fans will not be allowed to attend the games, they’ll still be able to bet on their favorite MLS teams.

The MLS returns after Bundesliga, the English Premier League, and Serie A are in preparations to begin play or have already resumed their seasons.

All 26 teams will participate in a 54-match, six-group tournament, where the winner will clinch a spot in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League.

The matches will be on a rolling schedule and will be able to be bet on nearly every day.

"The opportunity to have all 26 clubs in a controlled environment enables us to help protect the health of our players, coaches and staff as we return to play," said the MLS when announcing the return.

The bracket and seeding for the tournament will be released at a later date but fans will be able to watch the games through any of the MLS broadcast partners which includes ESPN, MLS.tv, and the Fox Sports Network.

  • July 8: Group Stage
  • July 25-28: Round of 16
  • July 30-August 1: Quarterfinals
  • August 5-6: Semifinals
  • August 11: Final

The Group Stage draw will decide the rest of the seeds outside of the top-seeded Orlando City SC.

The MLS hasn’t released a date on when the draw will be. However, it should happen within the next few weeks after the group stage is settled.

Soccer bettors will then be able to see MLS games back on USAOnlineSportsbooks.

The MLS won’t be the only sports league bringing all their teams to Orlando, as the NBA will also be setting up shop at Disney World to host the rest of their season.
