NASCAR Betting Preview: Buschy McBusch 400 @ Kansas Speedway

  • The Buschy McBusch features some of the best drivers in the Cup Series.
  • Denny Hamlin has won two editions of this race, can he make it a third?
  • Hamlin has +550 odds to win the Buschy McBusch.

LAS VEGAS - The Bucshy McBusch Race 400 has only been around for a few years, and has only had its meme-style name for one - this is, technically, the first edition of the Buschy McBusch.

Formerly known as the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 (yes, really), and the Super Start Batteries 400, the race was renamed in 2021 based on fan suggestions.

As always, when the internet starts suggesting things to brands, situations like this pop up, most famously Boaty McBoatface, a scientific research boat run by the UK government.

Buschy McBucsh is well within that style, but also contains the brand name twice - something that no doubt helped sponsors Busch Beer come to terms with the name.

The race itself has only been around since 2011, but in that time, two drivers have won it twice - Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin.

Unsurprisingly, those two elite competitors are near the top of the odds boards for this edition of the Buschy McBusch.

Buschy McBusch 400 Futures Betting Odds

  • Denny Hamlin #11 +550
  • Martin Truex Jr. #19 +600
  • Ryan Blaney #12 +800
  • Brad Keselowski #2 +800
  • Chase Elliott #9 +900
  • Kevin Harvick #4 +950
  • Kyle Busch #18 +1200
  • Joey Logano #22 +1000
  • William Byron #24 +1600
  • Alex Bowman #48 +1900
  • Christopher Bell #20 +2500

Hamlin is well worth talking about in the context of this race, but also in the context of his place in the Cup Series standings right now.

He’s been remarkably consistent, racking up eight top 5 finishes over the course of the season, which is double anyone else in the Cup Series.

The problem, inasmuch as there can be one for the first place driver in the standings, is that he has not managed to win a race. Below him on the standings are Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano, both of whom only have four top 5 finishes.

However, Truex has won two races, and Logano has won one - they’re converting at a higher rate than Hamlin right now.

Given that Hamlin has a previous history of winning this race, it could be time for him to capitalize on his elite level of skill right now.

Of course, he’s tied on the odds boards with Kyle Larson, an elite driver in his own right, and Truex is right below the pair of them on the online sportsbooks.

The problem with expecting any one driver to win this race is just how talented the top group of drivers in the Cup Series are.

Larson, Hamlin, and Truex are only the tip of the iceberg - Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch are all very reasonable picks to win this race.

With Hamlin competing at the level he’s at, however, to go along with his history of success in this race - the Buschy McBusch could be the race that puts Hamlin over the top.

NASCAR betting fans can wager on the Buschy McBusch knowing that there are a large amount of extremely reasonable wagers to be placed, with so many elite competitors available on the odds boards.
