NASCAR Betting Preview: Pocono Organics 325 Breakdown

  • Ryan Blaney has +1100 odds to win the Pocono Organics 325, which would be his second win in as many weekends after his victory at Talladega.
  • The favorites in the field are Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch, who both have +450 odds.
  • Joey Logano, who recently admitted to intentionally aggressive driving, has +1300 odds to take the win.

LAS VEGAS - The NASCAR Cup Series is back with the Pocono Organics 325 this weekend. The race is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27.

The race could be an important one in NASCAR, coming on the back of a Talladega weekend that was marred by controversy and bad weather.

Talladega was won by Ryan Blaney, who locked up his seventh top-five finish of the Cup Series season, and his first win.

Blaney sits in third place in the Cup Series, but actually has more top-five finishes than the two drivers ahead of him, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano.

The problem for Blaney? Talladega was his only outright win, while Harvick and Logano have two each.

In this race, Blaney has +1100 odds, well below those of Harvick, who actually leads the field for the race with +450 odds.

Let’s take a look at the projected top sixteen racers on the odds board, courtesy of Bovada, a well-known online sportsbook:

Pocono Organics 325 Top 16 Odds

  • Kevin Harvick #4 +450
  • Kyle Busch #18 +450
  • Denny Hamlin #11 +625
  • Chase Elliott #9 +675
  • Martin Truex Jr. #19 +725
  • Brad Keselowski #2 +800
  • Ryan Blaney #12 +1100
  • Erik Jones #20 +1200
  • Joey Logano #22 +1300
  • Alex Bowman #88 +1600
  • Jimmie Johnson #48 +2200
  • Kurt Busch #1 +2200
  • William Byron #24 +2200

At the top, of course, is Cup Series leader Kevin Harvick, who is joined by Kyle Busch, perhaps the most talented driver in the Cup Series and the reigning Cup Series champion.

Busch does not seem likely to repeat his championship this year but is still a threat in any race he enters.

Behind the two of them are Chase Elliott, Martin Truex, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski, all of whom are names that bettors should be familiar with to this point.

Joey Logano bears discussion. It might seem odd that Logano, the second-place driver in the Cup Series, has +1300 odds in this race, well behind many drivers who are behind him in the standings.

However, this seems to be due to consistency - Logano has only finished in the top 5 of a race three times this season, and while he has racked up other finishes, Elliott, Keselowski, and Hamlin all have more top 5 finishes than he does.

Logano has been openly feuding with Chase Elliott, and recently admitted to driving aggressively in order to cost Elliott a win, after having the reverse happen to him.

Interestingly, Logano’s odds on this race are low enough to exclude him from the top group in group betting:

Pocono Organics 325 @ Pocono Raceway - Group Winner

  • Kevin Harvick #4 +320
  • Kyle Busch #18 +335
  • Denny Hamlin #11 +340
  • Chase Elliott #9 +350
  • Martin Truex Jr. #19 +360

This group looks incredibly close, as it should - every one of these competitors are elite drivers, some of the best in the sport.

Logano is certainly an excellent driver, but his odds at this race are a bit lower than normal - could this lead to frustration?

Overall, betting on the Pocono Organics 325 should be a great betting opportunity for the discerning NASCAR bettor.
