NFL Draft Oddsmakers Haven’t Forgot About These 3 QBs

  • Jalen Hurts had his best year statistically as a college football quarterback in 2019 and is favored to be selected before the 62nd pick in the NFL Draft.
  • Jake Fromm’s Over/Under for draft selection is set at 60.5, despite his best year throwing the ball.
  • Jacob Eason transferred from the University of Georgia to the University of Washington for his final year and threw for over 3,000 yards and scored 23 touchdowns.

BRISTOL, Conn.Jalen Hurts, Jake Fromm and Jacob Eason all had career years in their final years of playing college football. All three of them are expected to be drafted and developed as NFL starting-caliber quarterbacks. The question at this point is more about when they will get selected.

While all the attention has been on Joe Burrow, Tua Tagavialoa, and Justin Herbert, the top three QBs in this year’s Draft class, oddsmakers haven’t forgotten about these future NFL stars either. Odds for Hurts, Fromm, and Eason could all net bettors a decent payout as well.

Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts had a career year for the Oklahoma Sooners. He put up 3,851 passing yards and 32 touchdowns which are both career highs as well as 1,298 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns which are also career high numbers. This was Hurts’ first year playing for the Oklahoma Sooners after transferring from the Alabama Crimson Tide and he was able to lead them to the College Football Playoffs.

Online sportsbooks currently have Hurts’ Over/Under of getting drafted at 62.5 with the Under bet favored at -165 and the Over at +125. There are also odds for which round he will get drafted in. The second round is the favorite at -160 followed by the third round at +185 and the first round at +450. Hurts is also projected to be picked before fellow quarterback Jake Fromm with -145 odds while Fromm’s odds are at +105. It is safe to say that Hurts is a sure thing as a second-round draft pick based on his NFL Draft odds alone.

Jake Fromm

Jake Fromm quietly had his best year throwing the ball for the Georgia Bulldogs with 2,860 yards and 24 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Fromm still has a lot to prove as a quarterback because for the majority of his career he was surrounded by superstar talent. It will be interesting to see how he develops into an NFL quarterback and which team will take a chance on that development.

Fromm’s NFL Draft odds are set at an Over/Under of 60.5 with the Over bet being favorited at -145 and the Under bet at +105. Fromm is expected to be drafted but bettors can also expect him to be overshadowed by the amount of talent at the quarterback position this year. It should be safe to pick the Over bet on this one.

Jacob Eason

Those who regularly bet on college football saw Jacob Eason have his best year as a quarterback after transferring from Georgia to the Washington Huskies. Eason went for 3,132 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Huskies. Eason would still need time to develop as an NFL quarterback as well but if he can have the same transition to the NFL as he did when he transferred schools, his career will only go up.

Jacob Eason’s Over/Under of being drafted is set at 47.5 with the Over being favored at -160 and the Under at +120. Eason is also projected to be selected higher than Jake Fromm with -230 odds while Fromm is at +160. Eason has jumped around on different mock drafts and although the Over bet is favored, the Under bet could be the smarter move.
