NFL Week 6: Vikings, Cowboys See Favorable Lines

  • The Minnesota Vikings opened as EVEN underdogs but now have -135 odds as the betting favorite.
  • The Dallas Cowboys opened as low as 2.5-point favorites but have been as high as 4.5-point favorites.
  • The Cowboys and New England Patriots totals have gone from 48 to 51 since opening.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Many games have seen line movement in Week 6 of the NFL but a couple of lines have moved more than others.

Vikings Favored After Opening As Underdog

The Minnesota Vikings opened up as EVEN underdogs against the Carolina Panthers. As the week has gone on, online sportsbooks have moved the line in their direction as they now sit as 2.5-point favorites.

Vikings Vs. Panthers Line Movement

  • Minnesota Vikings At Open EVEN
  • Minnesota Vikings Currently -135
  • Carolina Panthers At Open -120
  • Carolina Panthers Currently +115

This could be due to Christian McCaffrey being out of the game or because of heavy liability on the Vikings as underdogs. It is also worth noting that Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen both didn’t log a practice until Friday when they became full participants.

Kick off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday and can be seen on FOX.

Dallas Cowboys Vs. New England Patriots Spread Movement

The Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots betting lines have been moving throughout the week. Those betting on the NFL could find the Cowboys as 2.5-point favorites early in the week as well as 4.5-point favorites later on. Now, the line is resting in the middle.

  • Dallas Cowboys At Open -2.5 -110
  • Dallas Cowboys Currently -3.5 -110
  • New England Patriots At Open +2.5 -110
  • New England Patriots Currently +3.5 -110

Dallas is the only undefeated team in the NFL against the spread this season and likely saw heavy backing from the public after opening up below the 3.0-point mark. New England may be a tougher team to figure out as they nearly beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but also nearly lost to the Houston Texans.

Regardless, the line now has the hook at 3.5 and Dallas will need more than just a field goal margin of victory to remain undefeated ATS on the season.

Cowboys Vs. Patriots Total Line Movement

The Patriots and Cowboys spread wasn’t the only line in the game to see some movement, as the total moved a couple of points as well. After opening up at 48 points with some slight shading on the OVER, the line now sits at 51 points.

Patriots Vs. Cowboys Total Line Movement

  • OVER At Open 48 -115
  • OVER Currently 51 -110
  • UNDER At Open 48 -105
  • UNDER Currently 51 -110

This line movement may be a little easier to understand than the others as there’s been a clear sign of sharp action  on the OVER. With just 53% of the total bets, the OVER is holding 76% of the money. Dallas games have a 4-1 record in favor of the OVER while Patriots games are 4-1 in favor of the UNDER.

CBS will have coverage of the game at 4:25 p.m. EST, Sunday.
