Odds Favor Damian Lillard And CJ McCollum To Land In New York If Traded

  • Damian Lillard has +250 odds to be traded to the New York Knicks.
  • CJ McCollum is favored to be traded to the New York Knicks with +200 odds.

PORTLAND—After a first-round exit from the NBA Playoffs, the Portland Trail Blazers rumors have begun and are in full effect. They began when both the Trail Blazers and longtime head coach, Terry Stotts, parted ways.

With these rumors, online sportsbooks have had lots to offer odds on such as where both Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will be traded to if Portland decides to trade them away in hopes for a rebuild.

Taking a look at the odds for both Dame and CJ, one team is favored to land them if they are both traded and that is the New York Knicks.

Damian Lillard Next Team If Traded

  • New York Knicks +250
  • Philadelphia 76ers +275
  • Miami Heat +300
  • Los Angeles Lakers +350
  • Los Angeles Clippers +400
  • Boston Celtics +450

When bettors really look into it, the New York Knicks are indeed a very realistic option to trade for either Lillard or McCollum. They have more than enough cap space in the offseason to acquire either one or both of them.

CJ McCollum Next Team If Traded

  • New York Knicks +200
  • Los Angeles Clippers +250
  • Indiana Pacers +300
  • Cleveland Cavaliers +400
  • San Antonio Spurs +500
  • Toronto Raptors +600
  • Milwaukee Bucks +700

The only problem with this is the knicks do not have much to offer Portland aside from their future draft picks and potentially their young players such as Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and Kevin Knox.

With that said, being that the Knicks have the cap space to make something happen and some young assets as well, bettors can take the risk on a trade happening here for one if not both of Lillard and McCollum.

Damian Lillard Trade Odds

Getting more into the Damian Lillard odds, some teams do stand out on the NBA odds board which could be worth the risk for some bettors to take.

The first team here are the Los Angeles Lakers. Just recently, when the Trail Blazers parted ways with Terry Stotts, Damian Lillard came out publicly vouching for Jason Kidd to become the next Portland coach. Now, Kidd immediately withdrew his name from consideration for the job following the announcement from Lillard as he mentioned he would be put in an awkward situation with both Lillard and Portland’s progression.

With that said, Kidd is an assistant coach for the Lakers which could sway Lillard to request a trade to the Lakers if he decides to jump ship. It is also worth noting that after the Lakers first-round playoff exit, they will certainly shake things up.

Another team to look at that could swoop in on Lillard are the Boston Celtics. The Celtics did not have the season that they were hoping for after dealing with injuries, the resigning of Danny Ainge, and the move of Brad Stevens to a front-office role.

On top of all their moves during the season and offseason, there have been rumors that the Celtics will explore options for Kemba Walker as he clearly did not fit in Boston’s system. The logistics of the trade would need to be worked out on both sides, however, the cap situation is there being that both Lillard and Walker make a similar amount. Knowing this, the Celtics should be considered a sleepers team here with plenty of upside.

CJ McCollum Trade Odds

As for CJ McCollum, the only other team on the odds board other than the Knicks that could make a trade work are the Los Angeles Clippers. However, a trade with the Clippers will not go without Paul George being involved.

Since joining forces in the 2020 season, George and Kawhi Leonard have both dealt with injuries and have also proven that they cannot win together after getting bounced in the second round last year and nearly losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2021 playoffs. Some might not expect it, but if the Clippers do not make it past the second round of the playoffs in 2021, their team will see a major move in an effort to keep Kawhi Leonard happy.

In order to make him happy, the move would likely be moving on from Paul George. What better way to move on from Paul George than replacing him with CJ McCollum? McCollum is a pure scorer and could easily let Kawhi Leonard be the star on the team.

That alone should have bettors leaning towards the Clippers as well as the Knicks for what could be a nice payout.
