Pro Football Focus Names George Kittle Best In NFL

  • Regular NFL statistics are not everything and Pro Football Focus has shown us that.
  • San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle statistically has not been having his best season, but other factors beg to differ.
  • Kittle has the highest rank in the entire NFL, according to the PFF scale.

SAN FRANCISCO – Regular statistics are for chumps, it’s all about Pro Football Focus grades. Through four weeks, tight end George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers has been named the best player in the NFL by PFF. Kittle has been given a grade of 92.7, the highest of any player in the league regardless of their position.

For any regular fan, going over Kittle’s stats for the season are less than mind-blowing. In his last three games, he’s only managed to record 17 receptions for 165 receiving yards. He has not scored one touchdown yet which leaves fans of a bit deflated like the footballs for the New England Patriots. However, Kittle’s PFF rating shows that his recorded statistics have nothing to do with his actual abilities.

In fact, Kittle’s catch rate has gone up from being 64.7% last season to averaging at about 81% this year. His reception rate has also gone up from 5.5 to 5.7 but his receiving yards are much lower than last season. His average is 55 yards a game while in the 2018-2019 season he had 86.1 yards each game on average. Kittle has been given odds of +10000 to make the most receiving yards out of any other player in the NFL. A slap in the face compared to last season’s statistics. But will he be able to defy the odds that were given to him? Highly unlikely based on how the 49ers have chosen to play him on the field.

The tight end has been doing more blocking this year during the games than he did last year and his quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is not utilizing the tight end when it comes to yardage and touchdowns. Garoppolo and the offensive coaches calling the plays are the leading factors as to why the best player in the NFL is actually not seen that way based on his current statistics.

If you’re placing player prop bets at your favorite US sportsbook, Kittle should be on your list of players to wager on. He is making the right catches at a terrific average when he is given the opportunity. The San Francisco 49ers are ranked 1st in the NFC West with a 3-0 record. Their next game is on Monday, October 7 at 8:15 pm EST. The 49ers (-190) will be facing the Cleveland Browns (+165) at Levi's Stadium. The game will be televised on the ESPN network. Hopefully, Kittle will be given more of a chance to showcase his skills. Until then, he will just have to settle for the highest grade in the entire NFL by PFF.
