Ron Rivera As A Head Coach In 2020, What Are The Odds?

  • Former Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera’s future in the NFL is now a prop bet for sports bettors to take part in.
  • Rivera has said that there will be many new opportunities for him within the league for 2020.
  • Online sportsbooks have listed the Dallas Cowboys as the favored team to offer Rivera a head coaching position.

DALLAS – Will Ron Rivera find a new head coach position in 2020? Online US sportsbooks have posted a prop bet that centers on where Rivera will land next season.

The veteran coach was fired by the Carolina Panthers last week after nine seasons with the team. With his experience and the abysmal year many teams have been having in the NFL, there is plenty of opportunities for Rivera to find a new organization to coach next year.

The question lies in which team will be the one to take him on.

All Bets Are On

Right now, there are two NFL teams in need of a head coach and those are the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Redskins. But, there are six other teams that have had their fair share of rumors about needing a new head coach for next season.

Those teams include the New York Giants (2-10), the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9), the Detroit Lions (3-9-1), the Dallas Cowboys (6-7), the Cleveland Browns (6-7), and the Atlanta Falcons (4-9).

Rivera is very well acquainted with the New York Giants organization should they decide they want a new head coach. From his own personal preferences, he would love to coach with the Chicago Bears because of his history with the team or the Los Angeles Chargers because he is a California native.

Neither team has expressed an interest in hiring a new coach for the 2020 season.

Various sportsbooks have listed the Dallas Cowboys (+200) as the favored team to hire Rivera, although the Cowboys have not yet fired Jason Garrett from the position. Rivera was able to take a team like the Panthers from the bottom of the list of Super Bowl contenders to an actual Super Bowl. He has stated that he is excited about the opportunities ahead as he has a lot more years of coaching in him.

"I love coaching and not just coaching because it's about winning football games but coaching because you have an opportunity to impact young men and people and that's what I want to do," said Rivera.

"I want to be able to coach people, impact people, win football games and hopefully win a Super Bowl..."

Beginning in January, the former coach will begin interviewing with prospective teams. By then, more teams may be looking for a head coach to turn their organizations around. The listed wager has only one squad so far that is actually hiring, the Washington Redskins (+1200).

Should the Redskins be the team that ultimately hires Rivera, there is no doubt the coach is ready to work and make the Redskins or wherever he goes the best team possible. But first, the season will have to conclude and interested franchises will have to reach out.
