BATON ROUGE, La. – There has been some breaking sports betting news coming out of Foxborough by way of Baton Rouge, Louisiana where New England Patriots rookie wide receiver, Kayshon Boutte, has been arrested for an illegal betting scandal while underage.

Throughout Boutte’s three-year career at LSU, he has reportedly placed roughly 9,000 bets on online sportsbooks. It was also reported that he placed bets on LSU while he was on the team and even bet on himself.

In particular, during the 2022 college football season opener between LSU and Florida State, as a part of an 8-leg parlay, Boutte bet that he would record over 82.5 receiving yards and score a touchdown. Boutte went on to finish the game with just two receptions for 20 yards and no score.

After being reported by the police, Boutte’s betting continued for over a week after he was selected by the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft which is also when he turned 21.

Obviously, this is a huge violation in the eyes of the NCAA as they prohibit any collegiate athlete from betting on any sport, especially betting on college football.

In total, Boutte wagered $637,538 to which he won $556,273. Boutte’s average bet size was roughly $1,600. The real kicker here is that the username for his sports betting account was “KayshonBoutte01.”

Relating Back To Calvin Ridley

For those that are unfamiliar, Calvin Ridley was suspended for an entire season for betting as well. However, while Ridley did bet on the NFL, he never bet on his own team while playing for them. He did bet on the Atlanta Falcons but was on IR at the time. He was also of the legal gambling age so he did not face any legal issues in that sense.
