This will be NASCAR’s first trip to the Circuit of the Americas, a track that also hosts the American Grand Prix on the F1 schedule.

This road course is the first of the 2021 season and the first of seven road races scheduled for the NASCAR Cup Series. The course comes in at 3.41 miles long for 68 laps and puts drivers through a test of 20 turns in counterclockwise formation.

The most exciting portion of this race could be on restarts, where drivers will have to approach a daring Turn 1 nicknamed “Big Red”.

“I would say the start of this race, will probably be pretty cool,” said Martin Truex Jr., who agrees with the sentiment. “You’ve got that long, front straightaway, and it’s very, very wide, then you go into a very, very slow corner. We have races at places like Pocono [Raceway] where we get five and six-wide down the front stretch, and there’s potential for that to happen here as well, but you’ve got to turn around and go the other way, so it could be pretty hairy.”

Those looking to bet on NASCAR have plenty to work with this week as nearly all of the drivers have never competed on this track.

Chase Elliott finds himself at the top of the betting board with extremely short odds to win.

This is for good reason, as Elliott’s dominance on road courses cannot be understated. In his last 10 road course races on the Cup Series, Elliott has five wins and just two finishes outside the top six.

Those looking to bet on anyone other than Elliott have the odds stacked against them, so might as well entertain a few longshots.

Out of the available odds, some of the best value comes from William Byron at +1500, Christopher Bell at +1800, and Daniel Suarez at +10000.

Through 15 races this season, Byron has only finished outside the top 10 three times and earned a win in Homestead to start the season.

Christopher Bell is a name to watch due to his surprise win at the Daytona Road Course back in February. If he can drive with that same level of intensity on the tight turns, not even Elliott could catch him in Texas.

Finally, Daniel Suarez is a longshot choice due to his strategic racing over the last few weeks. While he has only three top 10s this season, he has been getting faster every week and it is only a matter of time before he breaks through to Victory Lane.
