2021 NFL Week 5 Injury Report: Who’s Hurt And Who Benefits?

  • Cordarrelle Patterson is set for another big week as Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage are both set to miss the game against the New York Jets.
  • Damien Williams is in line for a heavy workload as David Montgomery is expected to be out for some time.
  • Kadarius Toney should continue to see a lot of usage with Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton sidelined.

LONDON – Paying attention to the NFL injury report is crucial in finding possible breakout players that could be worth playing in fantasy or betting on individually.

Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage OUT: Cordarrelle Patterson IN

The Atlanta Falcons receiving core will be depleted for their game against the New York Jets in London on Sunday. Both Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage have been ruled out of the game, which brings players like Cordarrelle Patterson to the forefront.

Patterson, despite technically being a running back, is second on the team in receptions and receiving yards. He’ll likely be used as both a back and a wideout on Sunday and given his recent performances, it’s tough to see him having a slow day with what should be an uptick in volume.

Longest Reception - Cordarrelle Patterson

  • OVER 15.5 -125
  • UNDER 15.5 -105

Full game props are not available with online betting sites yet, but he does have -125 odds to have at least one 16-yard reception, something he’s done in each of his last three weeks.

The game will begin at 9:30 a.m. EST on Sunday and can be seen on the NFL Network.

David Montgomery OUT: Damien Williams IN

The Chicago Bears have been heavily reliant on David Montgomery this season, but he’s been ruled out for about a month which makes Damien Williams the lead back for Chicago.

Damien Williams Rushing Yards

  • OVER 60.5 -115
  • UNDER 60.5 -115

Williams compiled 55 rushing yards on just eight carries last week and while he probably can’t sustain a 6.9 average yards per carry, the larger number of carries should be able to offset the dip in efficiency. The only other running back on the roster who has had a carry is Khalil Herbert, who has run the ball three times this season meaning it should be all Williams all day long.

The kick-off is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. EST Sunday and will air on CBS.

Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton OUT: Kadarius Toney IN

Entering last week, Kadarius Toney had just four catches for a total of 14 yards. Since Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton were, and remain, out, Toney was able to gain 78 yards on six receptions.

Prop bets are not available as Shepard and Slayton haven’t officially been ruled out of the game, but both have yet to log a practice this week. When NFL betting sites do list the props, take the OVER as he paced his team in targets a week ago and has a favorable matchup ahead. The Dallas Cowboys are allowing the second-most passing yards per game this season.

FOX will have coverage of the game starting at 4:25 p.m. EST on Sunday.
