JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the Jacksonville Jaguars secured the worst seed in the NFL on Sunday, it appears they have won the NFL Draft “lottery”.
With a record of 1-14 (and with a win from the New York Jets), Trevor Lawrence could be on his way to Jacksonville, as the Clemson quarterback has -5000 odds to be selected first overall.
Having drafted a quarterback in five of the last seven NFL Drafts, the Jaguars are no stranger to attempting to find their leader; however, of those selections, only Blake Bortles (3) was selected inside the first five rounds.
Even further, the Jaguars have only selected three first-round quarterbacks in their short NFL history.

Lawrence would join Andre Branch as the only two Clemson players drafted by Jacksonville, should the quarterback make the jump. However, rumors on Trevor Lawrence have always been surrounding his desire to return for his senior season.
While the rumors suggested this when the New York Jets were set to be the first overall pick, some quotes never die.
"No matter where I go, whether it's across the country, whether it's close to home, whether I stay another year. No matter what it is we'll work it out," said Lawrence in October. "So I'm not sure, that's a tough one. But we'll see how it all unfolds."

Lawrence doesn’t have much more to prove on the college level, as his college career quarterback numbers put him in the top-20 for passing efficiency rating (165), in the top-60 in career passing touchdowns (88), and in the top-125 for passing yards (9,698).
The 21-year-old also has 17 rushing TDs and 951 rushing yards in his college football career on top of another year of eligibility.
New York Jets Draft Choices
After Lawrence, the odds at online sportsbooks are for Justin Fields being the second player taken. The Jets will have plenty of options at number 2; however, after drafting 13 quarterbacks in the last 21 NFL Drafts, they could also take a chance on Penei Sewell – Oregon’s offensive tackle – instead.

Regardless of how the actual draft plays out, rumors already suggest that Sewell on the Jets is more likely to occur than Fields is.
