LA Rams Super Bowl Odds Shift Drastically Amid Ramsey Trade

  • Jalen Ramsey has made the Pro Bowl twice and earned one first-team All-Pro selection since he was drafted in 2016.
  • The Los Angeles Rams are currently on a three-game losing streak.
  • The Rams odds to win Super Bowl 54 went from +3000 to +1800 after the trade at online sportsbooks.

LOS ANGELES – The LA Rams are seemingly back in Super Bowl contention after trading for All-Pro cornerback, Jalen Ramsey.

Ramsey, a two-time pro-bowler since being drafted in 2016, demanded to be traded after a sideline dispute with Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone in Week 2. Ramsey has been sitting out on the sideline for the past few weeks due to injuries.

Last week, Shad Khan had reassured that the team’s decision was going to be mutually beneficial.

“I met with Ramsey a couple of days ago, had a heart-to-heart and I think we’ll be able to come to whatever makes sense for all,” said Khan to TheStreet.

That decision involved trading Ramsey to the Rams in exchange for two first-round picks, one in 2020 and one in 2021, as well as a fourth-round pick in 2021.

“Given the situation with Jalen, we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars, for this season and well into the future,” said Tom Coughlin, the Jacksonville Jaguars EVP of football operations.

However, when it comes to this season, it seems as though the trade benefited the Rams more. At least in the eyes of bookmakers. The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas adjusted the Rams odds to win Super Bowl 54 from +3000 to +1800 after the trade.

Offshore online sportsbooks, such as Bovada, still have the Rams at +2200 odds to win the Super Bowl. This presents immense value for those interested in betting on the Rams.

The Rams are currently on a three-game losing streak but the addition of Ramsay could have an immediate impact on the Rams' chances to get their season back on track.

The Rams' next game is against the Atlanta Falcons who are 1-5 on the season so far. The Rams are favored at -3 points to beat the Falcons and the Rams are also 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games away from home.

Rams next two games after that are against the Cincinnati Bengals (0-6) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4). After that is when the Rams' strength of schedule starts to pick up again. This should give Ramsey time to get healthy, get situated in his new role, and get the Rams back into championship contention.

However, the Rams still have to play in one of, if not, the toughest division in the NFL.

The San Francisco 49ers are currently undefeated at 5-0 and the Seattle Seahawks are not far behind at 5-1. The Seahawks defeated the Rams in the two teams' first matchup of the year in a Thursday night thriller two weeks ago. The 49ers also defeated the Rams just this past Sunday.

LA will seemingly have to play at peak efficiency just to get a wild-card spot in the playoffs. The jump in Super Bowl 54 odds at US sports betting sites for the Los Angeles Rams seems to be a bit much given the competition they will have to face. However, the NFL is a week to week league and a revitalized defense can be a game-changer.
