JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Things in Jacksonville have not been going as smoothly as some might have thought after drafting Trevor Lawrence first overall and hiring one of the best college football coaches in Urban Meyer.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently sitting with the second-worst record in the league at 2-11, have the second-worst offense in the league with just 13.8 points scored per game, and are in the bottom-10 in points allowed per game at 26.2.

There has been a lot of speculation on if Meyer was the right man for the job and online betting sites do not have much faith in him staying with the Jags.

A Chance That Meyer Sticks Around

Betting on Meyer to stay put in Jacksonville would not be the worst bet to make as this is just his first as a head coach in the NFL. An argument could be made that Meyer was not expecting the jump to the pros to be as challenging.

“I don’t know Urban Meyer at all really, I met him the other day, shook his hand before the game and after the game and his comment to me was, ‘Every week it’s like playing Alabama in the NFL,” said Denver Broncos head coach, Vic Fangio after their Week 2 matchup.

It was also reported that the owner of the Jags, Shahid Khan, was not going to rush into his decision on the future of Meyer in Jacksonville. Khan and the Jaguars are known for giving coaches a fair chance at proving themselves before moving on as their last two coaches, Gus Bradley and Doug Marrone, each coached four seasons before being fired.

That said, Meyer might be on thin ice, but the Jags could very well let him have a chance to prove himself.

The Replacement

The only notable NFL odds on who could replace Meyer are those of Kellen Moore, the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys.

That is based on what he has done in developing the Cowboys' offense as they have finished in the top-10 in points and yards in the three seasons that he has been the offensive coordinator.

Also, the pairing of Moore with Lawrence could be one of the most underrated in the league as Moore could help develop him into one of the top QBs in the league as he did with Dak Prescott. In Prescott’s last two healthy seasons, he finished in the top-10 in passing yards and passing touchdowns.
